Recap: On Stage with Classical KING FM Personalities

September 23, 2016 – Our 2016/17 season started off with a bang featuring performances by some of KING FM’s staff and on-air personalities.

The audience enjoyed hearing Geoffrey Larson – KING FM’s newest on-air talent – on clarinet, accompanied by Lisa Bergman on piano. Together they performed Claude Debussy’s, Première rhapsodie.

Lisa went on to play a set of Variations on “Mary Had a Little Lamb”  by Edward Ballantine, while challenging the audience to identify the well-known composer of whom the style of the variation was based.

Other highlights included Dave Beck’s performance of J.S. Bach’s “Allemande” from Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major, and Beethoven’s Trio in B-flat, Op. 11, for piano, clarinet and cello, with Lisa and Geoffrey joining.

KING FM Personalities

Station Manager, Bryan Lowe’s collection of unique instruments stole the show. Audience members were invited up during intermission to inspect and practice a working Theremin and Cristal Baschet.

The program ended with a uniquely French pairing of double bass, two guitars and cello, featuring Rick Leppanen, Neil Andersson, Christophe Chagnard, and Dave Beck, respectively.

KING FM returns to Resonance on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 7:30 pm, with a performance of The Skyros Quartet. The event will featuring two visual artists and Skyros as both musicians and artists interpret the work of the other with improvisational flair and technique.
