Brian Yarkosky works throughout Western Washington as a performer, private instructor, ensemble director, clinician, coach and adjudicator. As an educator, Brian devotes as much of his time teaching the many instruments of the percussion family to students. Many of his students and ensembles have competed at the state level for the WMEA Solo/Ensemble Contest. Much of Brian’s performing career is on marimba. He can be seen performing with both his marimba & flute duo, the Evergreen Duo, and his percussion group, the Seattle Marimba Quartet. He regularly performs with Pan Leggo, a Caribbean music ensemble on congas and Brazilian percussion. Brian is also the Musical Director for the Bellevue Youth Symphony Orchestra Percussion Ensemble and on the teaching faculty at Music Works Northwest. He is also a busy freelance percussionist with many local orchestra pits and symphonies. Brian received his Master or Music degree from the University of Washington where he was a recipient of the Boeing Fellowship, the School of Music’s highest performance award. Brian received his Bachelor of Music degree from the Lawrence Conservatory of Music in Appleton, Wisconsin. Brian currently has private lesson studios in Shoreline, Ballard, and Bellevue.
