Garden of Joys and Sorrows: Music for flute, harp, and viola

Garden of Joys and Sorrows: Music for flute, harp, and viola

This musical program journeys through sadness and loneliness to beauty and hope for the future. Let the sounds prompt you to step outside of your everyday life, to process your emotions, and to enjoy the moment. Allow the music to connect you to our community: to realize that music, the universal language, can speak to each of us in different ways; to consider how we relate to the people around us; and to encourage us to give back to our community.

Partners: New Beginnings, a local non-profit organization that aids domestic abuse victims (www.newbegin.org)

Program Includes

  • Submerged – Miguel de Aguila
  • Elegiatic Trio – Arnold Bax
  • Garden of Joys and Sorrows – Sofia Gubaidulina
  • Doppler Effect – Adrienne Albert
  • Trio – Claude Debussy
  • Terzettino – Theodore Dubois

We talk about the deeper meaning behind each piece – for instance: why the composer wrote it, what to listen for, and what to think about while listening – and we connect these concepts what’s happening around us in the present. Each project – […]
