Matthew Berliner is a freelance horn player and instructor based in Seattle. He was the Acting Principal horn of the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra in Honolulu from 2015 to 2017 and the Acting Associate Principal and Third horn in 2014. He has played guest Principal horn with the Malaysia Philharmonic Orchestra, Maui Pops Orchestra, and Symphony Tacoma. He is frequently called to play with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Northwest Ballet, 5th Avenue Theatre, Paramount Theater, and Seattle-based commercial studio recording projects. He has also played with the Oregon Bach Festival, Spokane Symphony, Lancaster Festival Orchestra, Ballet Hawaii, Zermatt Festival, New World Symphony, and the YouTube Symphony Orchestra in Sydney, Australia. He studied with William VerMeulen at Rice University and Roland Pandolfi at Oberlin College and Conservatory. In his free time he enjoys kite-surfing, cycling, and cooking.
