Pianist Oana Rusu Tomai was born in Cluj, Romania. She has been the recipient of prestigious scholarships and grants and performed solo and chamber music concerts in Europe and across the United States. Oana is a frequent collaborator with members of the Seattle Symphony and Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society and has performed numerous times as a guest pianist in the Seattle Symphony Chamber Concerts, Vashon Seattle Symphony All Stars Concerts, King FM 98.1 classical radio station. Oana earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Literature Degree from Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. where she held the coveted position of teaching assistant. Her major teacher was acclaimed pianist and pedagogue Rebecca Penneys; she has been coached by renown pianists Gabriel Chodos, Edward Auer and Macolm Bilson. Additionally, she has studied at Indiana University, Aspen Music School and Festival, Debrecen Festival and Pecs Music School in Hungary. A uniquely creative music entrepreneur, Oana is the Artistic Director of the Romanian-American Chamber Concerts and Arts – ROCCA which return annually to Nordstrom Recital Hall of the Benaroya Hall. She is also Artistic Director of the Fountainhead Classical Concerts at Fountainhead Art Gallery in Seattle which present many uniquely themed chamber and solo recitals closely coordinated with art exhibits. A tireless classical music promoter, Oana is co-founder of the thriving e-commerce social marketplace Konnectclub.com which markets and sells tickets to groups for many events including countless concerts and arts events around Seattle. Currently Oana is involved in studying performing and recording music of the 20th and 21st century with a special emphasis on Romania’s most famous composer, George Enescu. In the fall of 2019 and spring of 2020 Oana is particularly excited to perform in Amsterdam and San Pancho, Mexico.
